There are several factors that determine if Solar can work for you.  Is your roof or the area at ground level where you plan to install the collectors facing within 30 degrees of South?  Is the area free of shade from 9am to 3pm?   The illustration above shows what is referred to as the Solar window.  This is the area where the most Solar radiation falls in a given day.  In order for your system to function properly there must be adequate sunlight where the collectors will be placed.  We can more accurately determine this on a site visit but this guide will give you some idea if your site is feasible.

The other consideration is economic.  Are your electric bills high enough to make the installation  of a Photovoltaic system worthwhile?   Typically a minimum of $75 for a monthly bill is the point where offsetting some of those costs start to make sense economically.   A domestic Solar hot water system is cost effective with current incentives if you now heat water with oil or electricity.     There are many rebates and tax incentive programs available but these vary significantly depending on where you live.   We will help you evaluate the availability of incentives in your area and your net cost after incentives.
Of course if your primary concern is reducing your carbon foot print then cost is not as important.
